My focus over the last few days was to get 2 projects done. So, puttering about my studio has been the task at hand. Today, we head back to Massachusetts for a few days, robbing me preventing me from working on some projects. Sometimes I sew there, but more often than not, there is always a lot more running around than I expect.

Preeti at Sew Preeti Quilts is coordinating this Positivity QAL with Bernie at Needle and Foot. The quilts will go to Mercyful Quilts, and I am thrilled to participate. Preeti set a goal of 24 blocks by this week. Now, of course I did 3 weeks worth of work in one week – it is just the way I roll with some of these projects. I made a few on a friends block Friday, did some more yesterday and today – I was able to finish 20. As I looked at them, the quilt seemed as though it would be pretty boring! So, what’s a quilter do?

Electric Quilt 8 to the rescue. The simplest, and most appealing, option will be to do fewer blocks, and add a border. My quilt will be 50 x 70; it’s what I can easily quilt on Tabitha, my Handiquilter Simply Sixteen. I will need a little less than a yard to make it like this picture. I could probably

For the last hour or so, I was confused about not having 24 blocks, as I thought I had cut a few more blocks out. But, inevitably, working on 2 projects at one time makes a mess, and couldn’t find them. However, my best practice is that I put some order to the studio before we leave. Lo and behold, they appeared! I could finish them today, but I have one other project on my list, that I need to get done before I sew again.
Now, on to my second accomplishment for the week when I was making this lovely bag. The project is from Kimberbell and I really like the way it turned out. It was pretty easy to make this project, with only one unexpected event (the upper part of the bag got caught and I had to redo a section). So, all in all, I am feel fairly comfortable with these kinds of projects and I intend to begin making some labels, something I really want to do.

I am linking up with Patti of Elm Street Quilts, to declare my OMG finished! It always feels good to get the monthly project done, and like many months, I try to do a project that has been “hanging around” the studio for awhile.

As for what is coming up, I will declare a goal for July, but 1/3 of the month is filled with company or a trip, so it will probably be a small one. Also, watch for post links on the Destination QAL; which I will be hosting the last 4 weeks (late Aug-Sept).

Kathleen, the traveling may bring inspiration but is not conducive to sewing and finishing. Fortunately, there is plenty of time. The Flimsy is not due till July 18 and the finished quilt is due on August 22. I am sure you will finish with time to spare. I am just so glad that you are sewing along. Thank you so much!!!
That bag is darling! What is the purple fabric? It looks velveteen-ish. Love the applique. Good luck with all your busyness. It is certainly distracting how life gets in the way of our creativity – lol!
Hi Kathleen! I would never in a million years say that your Positivity blocks look boring. They look pretty darn sweet, to me. Your purple bag turned out fab! I love the embroidery embellishment and the size looks quite useful. Nice job all the way around. ~smile~ Roseanne
Cute little cactus!!!
That little bag turned out so well! EQ8 is such a great resource. Those blocks look great!
I like your Poz blocks! They look great, and you are ahead of me, so you can feel good about that – LOL. Your little bag is cute with that motif on the front. Hope you can sneak in some sewing while in MA.
That Kimberbell project is adorable. The cactus especially! Your take on the Pos. QAL is so cool. It is amazing how each quilter is interpreting the project and making it uniquely their own. This means we will have a stack of similar yet very different quilts in the stack and that is perfect! Thank you for joining in Kathleen!
Very pretty! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and congrats on your finish.
I really like your version of Positivity! and too funny!! I am always losing blocks and then Bam! There they are 😉
