Hands 2 Help Quilts 2023 Check In

This is my 4th year participating in the Hands 2 Help charity drive. Sarah is a saint and has done wonders rallying the quilters and getting more quilts in the hands of so many charities. I will be donating to my guild, it is easiest for me this year. In prior years, I have sent as many as 4, some made with blocks from my bee sisters. I am committing to three this year, so let’s look at them. Two are not yet finished but our group distributes in October and due to the timing of the QALs, that will work out just fine. They will both be quilted by the end of June!

My Easy Strippy Quilt

This post was specifically written for Hands 2 Help and so the quilt will go to one of Rising Star’s charities. It is 40″ x 48″. You can find out how I made it – on the long arm – here. It was so fast, I know there will be more made this way.

Rainbow Neighborhood

I often join QALs with the intention that the quilt will go to charity. While I am not done, here is a collection of the blocks as it stands; only 3 more to make and a quilt top will be born! You can find out about the Rainbow Neighbourhood QAL here. This will finish at about 48′ x 48″.

Postage Stamp Quilt

I am loving this one, but it too will go to a charity. I often fall more in love with a quilt than I intend to, and this is one of them. The fabrics were from my time with Island Batik and I felt returning the gift to someone in need would be right. This too has 3 more blocks to go, one made but borders are required so it too, will be part of my Hands 2 Help group. It will finish at 54′ x 72″.

The Charities

Rising Star Quilters donates to the following groups:

I don’t know where they will wind up, but they were made with love to give comfort to those in need.

  1. How generous of you to be donating these quilts. I’m sure they will be appreciated by their recipients. Oh, and I think the postage stamp version of Diatom you are making should finish at 54″ x 72″ (each block with border should be 18″ square, finished)?

  2. A great collection of quilts for charity. I am sure they will be loved and used for many years to come.
