Goats…what can I say. The idea of doing yoga with baby goats intrigues me, but I never have tried it. Maybe for my photo shoot I will do that. Ok, let’s be honest, I probably won’t but a quilter can dream. Honestly, the thought of baby goats hopping on me would have me in hysterics. Turning myself into a pretzel is hard enough without baby goats to distract me! This block is fairly easy, but I did succumb to something that happens to us all – missed 2 pieces! Read on to find out all about it!

Cutting The Block

The cutting instructions for the large and small quilt are both on page 18. Again, in order to make the cutting and identifying of pieces easy, let’s use SEPC.
- Scan the cutting instructions
- Enlarge the cutting instructions
- Print the cutting instructions
- Cut – both the paper and the fabric, attaching the paper label to the fabric pieces.
There was nothing particularly tricky here. It is kind of nice to have a smaller amount of pieces to go.
Making Block 3
I began working away, following the instructions for piecing on pages 19-20. The head unit went together easy….but here is where I made a mistake and maybe the directions could be better. I assembled side pieces of the goat and have a hint to share on this first.

Hint #1: Use pins to keep your directions marked properly.
I don’t draw lines on pieces this small but I will put a pin in it to mark it. I have already added the bottom pieces, I am getting ready to sew the top pieces. I did that and proceeded to put together the body unit!.

Looks good right? I go on to make the horns unit…still looks good.

Now, I have gathered the pieces for the ears, not pictured here…but what do I see????

Two pieces that are not used!! Well, I am not happy and I go back and fix it. SO, when I look at the body unit piecing instructions, those 2 pieces were kind of snuck into the picture but not really pointed out.
HINT#2: Put the L pieces on before you start putting the body together!
I did a surgical repair – ripping seams out until I could get to the piece. It wasn’t hard and maybe its a tad wonky but animals are not symmetrical in real life and the baby will love it no matter what!
The Finished Block

If you are staying with me, we are a third of the way done! Time does go fast. The baby this quilt is for is due in 6 weeks, so time is of the essence. Next week we will make the cow!

I will also show you how I helped a friend with a quilt (not well made by someone I don’t know, if you ask me) so that it could be the remembrance she needed.

Yoga with baby goats – LOL! Have you seen the IG feed of yoga with flamingos? They seem to have the whole yoga thing down. Your little goat block is very cute. Been there, done that, with those pieces that should’ve been in the block somewhere . . . ugh.
Your blocks are just adorable!
Hi Kathleen! Cute, cute, CUTE blocks. I don’t get the whole goat yoga appeal . . . but I’ve never tried it (and probably will not). Two extra pieces?!! Wow, great job inserting them where they belong. Yup, I’ve been there, too. I can’t wait to see your cow! I love cows. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
Cute goat, Kathleen!!! Love the swirls! Baby goat yoga sounds like a lot of fun!!!
The goat is really cute but my favourite is that horse. Too funny, but also annoying about the extra pieces. You are one busy lady!
Hi Kathleen, this blog news makes me smile today. Thank you for that. I try to do my yoga and do correct ground-locking dog (what do you call that?) and cat .. but with pets? oh lol…
the pieces are so cute…. applaus applaus….
great job!! sewing on paper is not mine but you do super work!!
What a fun block. And I love the fabric you chose for the fur, it’s perfect.
Adorable!!! Those faces. Squee!
What a fun goat block. I think baby goats are just the cutest jumping around. But no, no goat yoga for me!! My bones would break trying to pretzel myself into yoga poses! LOL Still loving that horse too! Thanks for sharing with us on MM.
