I am reworking an old comforter for my cousin. She asked me over a year ago, but it is close to being done. It is my One Monthly Goal (OMG) for January to finish the quilt before the end of the month. Patty at Elm Street Quilts runs this little keep-your-list-moving party and you have one more day to enter. Here are the details on the program in general. Below you will find a link to linkup for January. Its pretty simple, post/declare a goal and at the end of the month, post/declare a finish.

I took it apart. You can see that there are some very worn pieces. I worked with it for awhile, but, I found I needed to wash it.

Yup, that was the result. Note to self: wash anything like this as a whole, not after you cut it up. We decided on a 2 1/2” strip by 6 1/2” strip. It will be about 42 x 60 when the top is complete at this stage. Decisions and fabric for the border, binding and backing need to be made. I am hoping to have those made by the end of the week along with the top, so that I can quilt and bind after the 15th. Wish me luck.

OMG January
Wow you are a great sister to volunteer for that, I would have be scared. I know your pain. I just washed my 6 yards of essex linen for my king quilt. It didn’t look that bad, but it was a pain to iron! On to my OMG of cutting.
You are a better sister than I am. LOL That looks like a lot of work. Good luck!!
I meant to say…cousin…
Here in the Midwest, some of us would look at that washing result and say Uffda. That just kinda sums it up. I know you’ll make this work, though!
Great way to pitch in and help with a quilt, Kathleen! It’s come a long way–I’ve seen it on the design wall and it is looking super good!
Hi Kathleen! WOW! What a pile of a mess of fabric. I do not envy you one bit. Good luck with this project – you will be thrilled to have it behind you by the end of January! ~smile~ Roseanne
Best of luck on getting this quilt together again!
Yikes, that sounds scary, but at least you are still able to salvage it. Such pretty colours!
