I had so much fun on this quilt along! Great friends joined in – ones that I met in the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers group and some as Island Batik ambassadors. I will do quilts in alphabetical order or first name, so you get to see everyone’s. Feel free to check out their blogs too to see what else they are up to!

Barbara Gaddy of Bejeweled Quilts by Barb is up first. She did hers all in Island Batik fabrics! I just love the pink border and her gorgeous quilting on this. I feel like I am in Bermuda when I look at this quilt.

A little secret, Barb actually has done two and this is her first! This one has an entirely different feel to it, and I love it as much as the first. Her kelp is light in both of them and I think that works perfectly.

Emily Leachman of The Darling Dogwood took a different approach. She didn’t do all the creatures, but instead made 4 each! I love what she did and and you can read about her process here. The wavy quilting is perfect. She didn’t make the kelp but I don’t think you miss it at all in the quilt.

But wait, yes this is her back! What to do with the extras, well make this the best double sided quilt ever for a kid! I love the fun print she used on the back…octupus, kangaroo, hedgehog…oh my goodness!

And here is “Annaleigh’s Aquarium” visiting the Atlantic Ocean before being sent off to her rightful owner. This is all Island Batik fabric from when I was an ambassador and Hobbs batting, too. It is a gift that keeps on giving.

I added two fabrics to the stash, the back and the binding. The back was a fun bubbly pattern called Mini Bubbles Marble and the binding had some of the red oranges. I love the way it turned out.

Rose Moy Mikulski of Something Rose Made made this beauty and posted about it here. I love love love the dark blue grunge background and her fabric choices are so awesome. The binding is just the right hint of color on the end. Now Rose was, I think, the most reluctant of the group…she likes her big squares and rectangles so these folded corners almost sent her around the bend. You can tell that from this beauty she created!

I just love the back she chose and the wavy quilting to reflect the ocean and the back…perfect.

Last but not least, is Wendy Tuma of Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life. Her quilt traveled the farthest for pictures, accompanying her to Florida, before the quarantine kicked in. This quilt will have memories and you can read her final piece on it here. Her background is closer to Elizabeth Hartman’s but her fabric choices are so vibrant! I love them.

Wendy instigated the question, is it a manatee or a seal or otter? Funny that she found a manatee to pose with her lovely quilt. The poll from my blog said otter. I am glad that was the biggest controversy in this Sew Along!

This is the reason for the SewAlong – my great niece – Annaleigh. I had saved the fabric and was waiting for a special baby and she is it! How pleased I am to show you the little one on her quilt, Annaleigh’s Aquarium. Her aunt is expecting in June (my other niece and sister to Annaleigh’s mother). I am beginning to think about that project and whether it is similar or different…..the question is unanswered but will be soon!

Enjoy your weekend. I’ll leave you with a picture of beautiful waves the day we photographed the quilt. More days like this are coming, and warmer weather although it has been awfully scarce. I am focusing on that, praying for some resolutions to the pandemic, and good health to family and friends far and near.

Thank you for sharing this. Beautiful.
So glad you enjoyed it!
You are welcome!
I loved looking at all of the beautiful quilts!!! So much variety and creativity in one pattern! Great job everyone! I finished E Hartman’s penguin quilt for my granddaughter. It turned out beautiful! You might enjoy making that one next!
They are so much fun aren’t they. I love the penguin. I have to see what this niece might prefer…a similar one for her baby or different, although I gave her sister no choice about what she got so maybe she doesn’t get any say. We’ll see.
Kathleen, these were all so fun to see! After hearing about all the blocks and was thrilled to see them all quilted and bound.
The parade is a fun place to be. Just wish we were all together showing them!
Reallly fun to see all the quilts, and the similarities and differences. That ocean view is lovely, too! I hope you do have many more days of beautiful weather to enjoy while we are sheltering!
Wasn’t that fun! Now if we only could have rendezvoused with you at the manatee statue and paraded along… Now that’s an idea for the next SAL!
Everyone’s quilts turned out so awesome, thanks for sharing them all in one place. I agree we need more warm weather days. The sun is shining today, maybe I’ll go clean up another flower bed today.
I am so glad you enjoyed them. Hope you got that flower bed cleaned up – the weather here is nice one day, cold and rainy for two….
So much fun to see them all in a row!!! Great job everyone! And Annaleigh! What a doll!!! Let me know if you decide to do another EH quilt for the next baby.
Annaleigh is so sweet. She looks so alert, I can’t wait to get my hands on her. Is there an EH pattern your interested in…can’t decide what to do next. Also looking at Sew Fresh Quilts…..
Hi Kathleen! OMG – how cute is Annaleigh. That is just the best picture ever. Oh, I would love to get down there with her while she’s kicking her feet, having a good time. This is a fabulous quilt parade. Each one has a different vibe from the other, yet they all carry the same theme. I’d call your quilt-along a great success. My favorite has to be yours – Annaleigh definitely pushed my vote your way. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
Isn’t she a doll! I can’t wait to meet the little sweetheart. I really enjoyed this and so glad Annaleigh swayed the vote in my direction!
I love seeing all of these together! Thanks for hosting a fabulous QAL! Annaleigh is adorable, and I bet she will love all her awesome ocean friends!
I know Annaleigh will love it and really can’t wait to meet her. I am figuring she’ll be speaking by then (not really but it seems like that could be true!). And thanks for playing along!
These are all so awesome! They are all different and beautiful, and that’s what makes each quilter unique!
Thanks, Danette. I loved hosting and the parade is so much fun!
That was a very enjoyable parade! The same quilt but so different.
So glad you enjoyed them!
What a glorious collection! Looking at all of these makes me happy. Thanks for linking to the Chameleon’s Colour & Inspiration party!
You are so welcome. I love when I have something fun to link up. It was a fun and easy paced SAL!
What a beautiful parade of quilts! And that sweet baby….she is adorable! I love that you named your quilt after her. Such a wonderful gift. Thanks so much for sharing this on MCM!
I am so sorry this got lost in thermal. Many thanks for commenting on this fun parade. The baby is adorable and of course, the quilt gets her name, which I think is just an awesome one. Love to be able to share on MCM.
