I couldn’t resist this fun table runner – it would be a project for a favorite guy of mine. Some time ago, my son was going to start a brewery. Since then, his plans have shifted, but he remains interested in beer brewing. I am hoping he enjoys this little bit of quilty goodness.
Fabric Selection
The pattern is easy to make and I have done a few versions of it.
I picked this kit up at the New England Quilt Expo in NH (in April) from Bits And Pieces fabric shop. It is a totally fun runner; one that I have made before. Now, there was one slight problem with the fabric, my son is allergic to peanuts. I brought the kit on retreat in June and looked for another fabric, but there were no suitable food items.
I picked up a gray gingham, and I think that worked pretty well. I didn’t use the beer bottles, so there is still another quilt or table topper to be made.
The Tablerunner & Quilting
The tablerunner was made rather quickly. If you look closely, you will see there is a piece on the ends – I removed it to quilt it. This photo was taken after the retreat, when I made the top in June. Note to Self: Pay attention to the length…I need it to be 48″ or so to quilt on my frame in the most efficient way. Both times I have made this pattern, it is a little too long to do lengthwise on my machine and next time I swear I will pay attention to that.
I used this pattern in Prostitcher call Wrenchworks. It took only two passes and quilted beautifully. I used Superior So Fine #403, Putty, a beige on the top and a Deco Bob Grey on the back.
These colors are much more fall-ish than my decor, which is mostly on shades of blues/teals but it still looks good in my dining room!
True Confessions
I seem to have lost a little steam in the quilting world. It has been a long time since I only had one blog post in the month. I may squeeze out another but there have just been obstacles…nothing bad. I usually only post if there is something fun going on, or I have a finish. This post should have been done last week, but I was off island 5 days in a row…that may have something to do with it. All is well, just a little hiccup!

I don’t have much of a quilting presence at all. I’ve been in the dumpster as far as finishes, not much motivation. But I have hopes it will turn around soon.
