I am so pleased to be sharing with you a little information about the new Mix and Match, Plus Corners and angles, for Electric Quilt 8*! This will help you design quilts that work with an Accuquilt Qube, a Corners Companion and/or an Angles Companion, but you don’t have to have them! Let me explain.

Software Overview
First, you must have Electric Quilt 8 to use this software, BUT, you do not have to have the Accuquilt Qube or companion corner or angles sets*. It is, however, a real nice bonus if you have any of these.
Let me explain. This software expands your block library to make it easy to work with the cube sets. When I was an Island Batik ambassador and needed to use the cube set, I drew in a lot of the blocks from the book. Now it is done for you.
The product includes:
- 72 blocks for the Qube
- 72 blocks that use the Angles
- 72 blocks that use the Corners
Mix and Match will save you a lot of time. You also get some documentation that is really helpful. The EQ Add-on Guide (PDF) give you instructions on how to use the blocks with your Qube. One really important one is the Qube can require a little more fabric than what EQ8 normally recommends, so it is important to pay attention to this. You are also given a Block Reference (PDF) with blocks labeled with die-shape numbers. I always forget what works for flying geese, but I can quickly find it with this. I also downloaded the recommended Accquilt sheets into the same folder, so it is all there.
Playing with EQ8
Here’s a quick quilt I designed. I love having motion in a quilt. And I love flying geese but I hate trimming. If I use the die cutter, I save myself a lot of time.
The other thing is that by using the companions, you get blocks that “automatically fit” and that the angles can form interesting patterns.
Look at what happens when you combine these blocks! This reminds me of flying saucers and spaceships…or I also see spools. Recoloring may change the whole effect.
This recent quilt, I used by Qube dies to make the square in a square block. I didn’t have the right die for the center squares, but the triangles were all precut! That made it a very quick make for me.
I hope you enjoyed my playing with this product. I highly recommend it for those of you who have an Accuquilt cutter and a Qube set*, but it is fun in that even without it you, can rotary cut or paper piece these blocks very easily. I highly recommend Mix and Match, Plus Corners and angles, for Electric Quilt 8*.
