New England Shop Hop – Part 1

The All New England Shop Hop is going on right now. You can find out more about it here. I took some time on Tuesday while near NH and visited 3 shops. We are running between raindrops all the time these days, so I was glad to avoid any downpours. The magazine is your passport and I am aiming for 10; the scope of New England is quite large, and doable in 2 months if work hard. I won’t be able to do that this year. But on to the goodies and what I did do so far!

My shop visits in NH

My first stop was Nashua Sew and Vac. This shop is very familiar to me, as I have purchased and maintained machines there over the year. A visit there for machine service is one of the best decisions you will ever make. I purchased a storage box for thread and a yard of the striped shop hop fabric. I heard that one was scarce, so I wanted to have some to play with. I have my eye on a Pfaff Passport 3.0 for a travel machine when I am done downsizing the other 2 machines, and will purchase there if I can.

The second stop on my journey to me to the All American Quilt Shop. This was a new shop to me, very cute with lots of great blenders, and some fun prints! NH has no sales tax…always nice when purchasing. I bought 2 yards of sky blue and 3 fat quarters. They had a goodie bag that had a fat quarter, seam ripper and some snacks. SO Impressed with that effort!

The final stop was my HandiQuilter dealer – Bits N Pieces. I am familiar with their shop – there is always something I need. I wanted more of the water fabric for the ferry pillows and bought 2 yards plus 2 other fat quarters.

Quilting on Hold

I do hope to sew again this weekend. I had hospice training Thursday and Friday and am also doing a little more PT on my ankle so I will be in good shape for Ireland in mid-October. I need to formulate a plan for our Bee challenge and enter the quilt before the 16th, so my thinking cap is on.

Hi Kathleen! Wow – how fun. I am hoping to hop next year in our state fun. That fabric with the moose and bears is really cute, and I’m glad you could find the water fabric before it’s gone. I need to find a good place for machine service. My LQS has serviced my machine several times but there are still issues which I just put up with. I didn’t know you had an Ireland trip coming up!! How exciting. We loved visiting there and would go again in a heartbeat. Happy Friday to you. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

It’s nice that the hop lasts for so long and gives you time to travel a bit. And I spy a future post that I’m really excited to get to see! 😉

How nice to travel, I think we all miss that. Selling a quilt is a fortune, and it will make another person happy and give cosy comfort. Our shops are not so customer orientated and give goody bags. We are more in a customer service desert.
    Happy weekend!

Looks like a good haul from the Shop Hop, Kathleen!! I haven’t participated in that type of event in many years. I have fond memories of the fun and excitement.

I used to do a little bit of shop hopping before gas price went nuts! Our shops never had any good sales during the hops. But they used to have great free fabric bundles if you completed that section. Have fun creating with your new additions.

I LOVE shop hops. Is the shop fabric the bear one? How nice to have a shop nearby you trust with your machine. LeeAnna

You’re doing great on your fabric tally, Kathleen! They sound like fun shops and fun purchases! The striped print for our MN shop hop always sells out fast, also. Looks like they gave you labels from their shops, too?
