This little quilt is part of my commitment to make some charity quilts and this is for one of the Hands2Help charities for 2022. I started making the scrap blocks as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and used the first two colors to make this small quilt. It seems that time is moving quickly so I wanted to make sure that I got started before May showed up on my calendar! There is a pattern for the blocks on my Tips and Tutorials page for this month if you like it.

I love the way the blocks interact and make two distinct designs…the ring and the diamond. The paths that are created by the background, I also find very pleasing. I am thinking of a design to quilt for the next one; we’ll see if that comes to fruition.

I have to say, unwinding the quilt once it is quilted is always one of my favorite things to do. Here you can admire it on the frame.

The quilting pattern is from Darlene Epp and is called “All Over Texture Two”. For this quilt, I felt an open pattern would be nice to make it a snuggly quilt for a little one.

The backing was a bright red, that worked nicely. In this picture the binding looks to be a much brighter blue, but it really is more like you will see in the photo below. For the backing, I tried the border print but didn’t love it, and was not going to go looking for new fabric – I am using my stash or trying to for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. It is funny, as I don’t often bind in a simple solid, but this teal worked well with this quilt.

I love how the blocks make a secondary design where they meet, Kathleen! Wonderful colors and love the quilting, All Over Texture 2!!! Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!!!
very nice! and yes good secondary pattern too – love the colors
I love blocks that make lovely secondary designs. The teal frames it nicely as does the darker blue binding. Someone is going to really appreciate having this snuggly quilt to cuddle up with. <3
Blocks that make secondary designs are great! Congrats on finishing your pretty teal and red version! I spy a Let’s Sew Quilt Along Finish behind the longarm. I love mine! 🙂
I agree on the secondary designs in a quilt – it’s adds such a fun punch to quilt designs! I like the combination of the red and the turquoise, and that fun quilting design works really well!
The secondary design is great and a bonus. The solid binding looks great and sets it off every so gently. Yeah for Hand 2 Help. I’m working on mine too.
I love how the blocks make the secondary design. That’s always a nice bonus!! I really love the quilt and the quilting, as well as the solid border. I think the solid red backing is great with the teal binding!
This looks beautiful – I love the secondary patterns too!
Beautiful! I love how the border shimmers! The quilting pattern is an excellent choice, too.
That is just so pretty! those colors look great together!
Nicely done, Kathleen! The recipient is sure to love it.
Great quilt! I love how the two main colors create the secondary design. I am sure it will someone very happy and will be cuddled often. xo
Open patterns are the best for comfort quilts. This quilt is going to be treasured by its recipient.
Wonderful finish!!! It will be a welcomed comfort to a little one.
oh that pink
Very cute quilt!!! I’m 100% positive that it will be loved by the one that receives it! 🙂
Wow! How I do love this, and think that I may just have to get one made! I did not see the diamonds until you pointed out the two shapes. Love how our eyes see different things, and love quilts with that kind of surprise within them. I recognize a print by Craftsy that I have in pink and in a deeper teal. Wish I’d bought more (and don’t tell me, but I bet that was one of the ones you scored in your LQS after Craftsy got rid of their fabric….
I don’t always enjoy scrappy quilts but this one is particularly nice and the design lends itself well to a variety of fabric combinations. Thanks for showing me there options in the scrappy world for me.
Love this little quilt Kathleen.
Some one is going to get a fun quilty hug with this pretty quilt.
Gorgeous colors! What a perfect scrap buster!
