Tips and Tutorials on the 22nd #22

Welcome to the 22nd Tips and Tutorials on the 22nd – that’s so much fun. I do think this requires a celebration, but I will hold off until next month when I have time to figure something out for a prize!

Now, we had two fun linkups last month that you should definitely check out.

FoodForThought©2021

The first was from Linda from Texas Quilt Gal linked us to a great tutorial from Sherrie, who blogs at Food for Thought, on how to tie a quilt. I love that she encouraged someone and left it up to us. It was an early way I learned to quilt, but its probably true that there are lots of quilters who don’t know how to do this, so just in case, you know have a link for another quick way to finish a quilt!

The second was called “Migrating Birds” and from Cheree at The Morning Latte. It is an adorable block and she displayed the little quilt in a wonderful way. Cheree suggests using it as a coaster or a candle mat.

LivingWaterQuilting©2021

I don’t think about this often, but some people do wonder and worry about how to pick thread for quilting. Geraldine from the Living Water Quilting has a great tutorial on how to pick thread for quilting.

Yvonne from Quilting Jetgirl always has great tutorials and this one on how to mark Quarter Square Triangles. She even gives us a great chart for the various sizes. For as long as I have been quilting, I always learn something new from Yvonne.

Lists and ideas for things to make for the holiday season are already popping up. Be sure to check out some that Julie at The Crafty Quilter posted. I always wanted to try to make bordered napkins and there is a link to one I may try!

Next up is another holiday theme, Halloween. There is still time to create for Halloween and these two posts surely have some fun ideas. One is a Tic Tac Toe game from Carla at Creatin in the Sticks. The second one that caught my eye is Frankenstein Mug Rugby Elizabeth at Elizabeth Coughlin Designs.

And, if you are feeling up for a challenge you can immerse yourself in Fibonacci and how to use his mathematical concept in quilts. I love what Kris shows us in her post at Scrapdash. Check it out, you may begin dreaming of a design using this “rule”. The block above almost vibrates, and I think it is because of the ratios used in it.

QuiltFabrication©2021

Along with this blog post, Susan at Quilt Fabrication did a benzene ring block. I love the idea of bringing in other disciplines to quilting and now this is a scientific concept for us to think about. A block with curves and a hexagon is certain an intriguing concept.

Here is your chance to link up tips and tutorials that you find.
