Much of the last few days has been concentrating on getting this one into shape! It is becoming a reality and is for the Island Batik September challenge – Starstruck.
Here are some of the pieces waiting for their friends. I paper pieced this project.
It is assembled. Quilting is on the schedule for the next few days. I have one idea but may play with a few more before I actually do it. Right now it is sandwiched and ready to go! UGH it was a rainy day here so these pics are not terrific.
Here’s my progress on TishNWonderland’s Fireburst Mystery QAL. I believe this is block 2. Block 3 is October along with the layout. We have until January to quilt the project. This falls into the stash busting arena for me – more stash fabric used, and will be a baby quilt size. Hip Hip Hooray!
Finally, this project is for the October Island Batik challenge – Rock, Paper, Scissors! I did some of this traveling to my nephew’s funeral. It was a very difficult weekend and we then had guests, following our return. Finally this week I have some emotional space to begin dealing with the new normal.

Hi Kathleen,
I’m sure that was a very difficult funeral to attend. Not that any are easy, but some are WAY more hard. Your Fireburst looks great. I’m am looking forward to the next step. Look at those fabulous points on Starstruck!! WOWEE. This is really a beauty. I am wondering how you are going to quilt it, and look forward to seeing. ~smile~ Roseanne
Oh, that IB star quilt is looking really good! Are you going to sell it as a pattern? I’m glad you have some space now to work through some of those emotions; so sorry your family has to go through it. It’s good that you have quilting projects to help you process.
Nice progress on your quilts, Kathleen. I’m looking forward to seeing how you finish your starstruck quilt. Good that you can spend some time stitching and healing now.
I am so sorry, again, about your nephew. I’m glad that you are able to keep creating, sometimes just having something to do with my hands has helped me work through grief. The Starstruck quilt top is stunning; and looks just like your EQ8 rendering. Awesome!
I am starstruck Kathleen! Your work is beautiful. I’m thinking of you.
