My first quilt finish of February has been done for a few days, but blogging time eluded me. I am so pleased to share this table runner, as it has been a PIGS (project in grocery sack) for a while! I don’t have many of these, but I do have some so it felt really good to work on it.
The Tablerunner Story
The blocks for this table runner were made a long time ago. The fabric was from Northcott and was a cheater fabric with 2 1/2″ strips of fabric printer to look like it was sewn. It used a technique made popular by 3 Dudes quilting, called Majestic Mountain Design. You make a strip set (but I used the cheater fabric) and then cut into blocks. You lay the blocks perpendicular, sew around, and cut and “X” into blocks. Then you assemble. There is a video at Missouri Quilt that shows the technique. Northcott had a pattern for this, but it is no longer available. All that is to say it is fun and easy to make! I was at retreat a month ago when I assembled the top.
Quilting
I found had the perfect pantograph called Dragonflies by Vicki Malaski in my Prostitcher files. It allowed me to fit two repeats on the piece easily and before long the piece was quilted. I used So Fine #471, Glacier for the front and a Magna Glide White in the bottom.
The piece is much more teal than some of the pictures show. I was happy to finally finish this and may have one more table runner to show before the end of the month. I could do the baby quilts but I think if I have the backing I will load the other table runner.

Beautiful runner, Kathleen! I watched the video. That fabric is printed like strips? I don’t think I’ve seen that. Looks so nice on your table! Neat quilting, too!
What a beautiful runner, and it looks wonderful on your table. LOVE the dragonfly quilting design – I wonder if it is available as a regular panto for my quilt-from-the-back setup.

Love the dragonflies motif. Looking at your design photo, I thought you’d quilted it in bright yellow, but realized in the completed photo it wasn’t. You’ve inspired me with that idea and may try it on a small project.
