‘Tis the season for a bit of holiday sewing. I didn’t have much that I needed but decided to make some stockings with some cute patterns from Prostitcher. It always cracks me up when menus offer a food cooked 2 or 3 different ways, hence the title of the blog! This was a fun project, definitely more to come in the next holiday season.
Making the Small Stockings
You can find this Mini-Stocking 5 Piece Bundle at Prosticher. They are adorable! I did not do a thread change; it would have taken too much time. Instead I opted for red and green fabric, with the Glide Sand (gold) thread. This worked perfectly.
I made 10. After the first round, I skipped the 4th and 5th stockings and made and extra of #1 & #2. I didn’t like all the stops and starts for the size it wasn’t worth the time it took to make these. They finish at a pretty good size (3 1/4″ x 5″).
The video was definitely helpful, but you will notice she made a larger one. The smaller one was a little “fiddly”. I found that the easiest way to make it was to turn the top down about a half inch and sew it down, then I would turn the toe in and turn the sock inside out. I made 5 red and 5 green – the stitches were good enough that it didn’t matter whether I used the front or back piece!
As often seems the case, the photos don’t do the colors justice. The stitching looks to be white as do the dots on the fabric, really they are both gold. You can use these as ornaments, a decoration on a package, strung across the mantle or even as gift card or money holders! I know I will make more if I am doing the art show next year.
In my stash of ribbons was this fun green/gold metallic so I strung them together and just hung them for a little fun.
Making the Large Stocking
The larger stocking was much easier. You can find it here: Classic Stocking. I loaded the design into the machine and had it stitch a larger stocking after I did the others. I still have this one, which will get used in this week’s decorating.
Coming Up on My Blog
I have begun work on the Ultimate Travel Bag, but it is slow going right now. I did unearth some embroidery (hand) in my studio and may start working on some of that at night. I am participating in SAHRR this year, so I picked some blocks and pulled some fabric. The hop is in January, so I want to be at least a few weeks ahead; I begin my weekly sewing next week but it will be secret until 2024 (YIKES!).

Those tiny stockings are adorable! I can think of several uses for them: tree decorations, place card holders, a wreath…but I do like the door hanger one you did with the gold ribbon.
