My name is Kathleen Scargle McCormick and I am mostly a quilter, but do dabble in a bit of knitting. I am married to Jonathan and we have a wonderful adult son, John. Since 2020, we have been permanent residents of Peaks Island in Maine. We purchased this home in 2010, but didn’t really settle here until then.
My quilting is comes from a desire to explore patterns I love with a great fabric. I have done it all: hand piecing, hand quilting, hand appliqué, english paper piecing, machine piecing, machine quilting, and long-arm quilting. For 17 years, I worked in a local quilt store, Cambridge Quilts, in Cambridge MA and helped people buy great fabrics and taught all sorts of classes. I sew on a Bernina 570 and a Handiquilter Sweet 16 with Prostitcher. I have a Pfaff passport 3 for travel and a cherished Featherweight, Boo, named after my friend’s mother who originally owned the 1954 anniversary machine!
My blogging journey began fairly miserably in 2008, but got a big boost when I joined the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers. I also realized I was going to be moving from the Boston area to Maine at some point, and felt like joining the internet community of quilters would be a good idea. This had proven to be valuable to me as a quilter. I have met new friends, continued with old friends and document my quilts.
Kathleen McMusing is the name of my blog….a play on my last name, in the vain of the character nicknames in Grey’s Anatomy. For instance, one was called McDreamy or McSteamy… I am McMusing, always thinking about that next quilt or the next one or the fabric for this one! I should muse less, quilt more!
