You may be wondering what the two have in common, a scarf and a blog hop; all will be revealed in this post. Yesterday, I made this quick scarf that is quite elegant to have a quick finish. The finish I have for the blog hop will be shown on Thursday, and I am so pleased to share it with you. So, lets see what trouble I have been in and a tiny hint to my piece for the hop
An Elegant Scarf

I picked up this delightful kit when I was at the Maine Quilts in August. I always love seeing what Fiddleheads Artisan Supply of Belfast, Maine has and this was just perfect. Their collection of fabrics is exquisite but I wanted something fun and quick. I just adored the colors in this scarf kit, and I knew it wasn’t bringing a lot more fabric into my stash. To be hones, I spent a little more than normal I do on normal quilting fabric but it is silk and a cotton lawn, elegant and more expensive than quilting cottons.

I quickly pressed the fabrics together, going EASY on the temperature on my iron. I was able to go up to a medium and that worked just fine. I did a little once around the scarf and then opened and pressed and made a second go around to hold down the edges.

In no time at all I had a scarf. I paired it with one of my favorite dressy shirts and this is a winner. Now to find someplace fun to go and wear this outfit. The real bonus is that I made something in less than an hour when I had other tasks to do and checked an item off my long list!
Out of the Dark Blog Hop Begins Today

This hop begins today and you won’t see my beauty until Thursday, but I can tell you I really enjoyed making it and love looking at right now.

These are some of the bits of fabric that are left from my piece….a little hint for you. Be sure to stop in and see what these quilters are up to on their blogs and what fun Halloween projects they are sharing.

What lovely fabric and a beautiful job on your scarf. I forget about making clothing type things – after all I sewed clothes before I quilted!
Stopping at Fiddleheads is one of my favorite memories of our Maine trip! Your scarf is lovely, and how fun that it was such a quick make! Looking forward to seeing your Hop project!
Getting anything made in an hour is amazing in my book, but especially something as lovely and functional as this scarf. I hope you find a chance to enjoy and show it off soon!
Wow that is one gorgeous scarf Kathleen! I also really really (as in multiple reallys lol) love that blue top. My colours! How wonderful and fitting to treat yourself with something as luxurious as the silk and Liberty. (I have some Liberty—used some for a friend and need to sew the rest for moi)
What a gorgeous scarf, plus cute top to wear it with, Kathleen!!! Silk is so luxurious!!!
