Summer brings new challenges each year. This year it is humidity, rain and fog here in Maine. The spring was full of rain and dark skies; I was beginning to think we were transported to the west coast Portland. However, summer has arrived and visitors are coming to Maine,in general, and to us, in particular. To summarize my sewing, it feels like a summer of welcome interruptions, with family and friends visiting. However, I have been sewing some and will bring you up to speed on where I am with a few things. I am off to a lake this weekend with some friends, so it will be a few days before the pedal is activated again!
The Art Walk on Peaks Island
The only Art Walk I will participate in this summer was held on July 5th. I put out my quilts and some other things, met some lovely people and sold a few items. My stock is low, I need to get back to making one or two quilts a month to keep up with the demand and work through my stash.
The napkins were a big hit, and I may go to the state quilt show upon my return and see if I can get a few more fun fabrics for those! There were a few items which I thought would sell, but didn’t, but that is ok. I will sell at the church fair, too, this year so there will be some beauties available for that event.
The Maine Panel
The Maine Shop Hop is in April and this fabric panel was something I couldn’t resist. In fact there is a second wall hanging, identitcal to the first, which is ready to throw on the quilt frame when I return. That reminds me, I need to find a backing. Also, I need to write a post on this, so you will see that when I return. The other obstacle is that I want to get a nice photo of it, something that has eluded me, but you should see this next week sometime.
Dinosaur Quilt
This is another Elizabeth Hartman pattern* and I loved making it. The pieces are almost all together, but I just didn’t push myself to finish before the trip. I still may make a change or two to the way I put it together, but you get the drift. I sewed for a few days on the porch of a friend and it is so very close to going on the frame. I realized in my haste one day, I forgot a spacing piece so Jack the Ripper needs to attack it one more time before a quilt is done. My goal is to finish it before the end of the month….probably not going to happen, but it might! I am beginning to think this post is about keeping me honest, and I think that is exactly what it is.
Big Plans
There are no real big plans in my quilting life, but here are a couple of things that I am doing on the side. One is the TopAlong from Catherine Cureton/Running Doe quilts. I am behind in July, but may cut it out upon my return to have something to sew. I am also signed up for the Aloha Myster 5-0, using my stash. I expect I will need to add some fabrics, but I just received the fabric requirements and haven’t shopped the stash. Hoping one of these speeds up my sewing summer mo-jo!

What fun an art walk must be! I love Maine, we went for our anniversary 10 years ago. Might be time to return. Have fun with your visitors and return home safe.
Oh that art walk looks like fun! Glad you are having good visits this summer. It has been a strange summer weather-wise, but alas now it is acting like summer here, and I am not up for it at all. :D

You are busy! Is the art walk one that people come to your studio? Love the way your quilts are displayed on the porch. Interesting that you sold fabric napkins, I wonder if those would do well here at our Fiber Fair.
It has been a very long time since I have been to an art walk. Many years ago, our little town used to have art walks. So fun! :)
