What a great pleasure and honor it is to help Laura Piland, from Slice of Pi Quilts, announce her new book. I met Laura in 2017 on blog land when we did the 2017 New Bloggers together, 8 years ago. After that, we were Island Batik Ambassadors together and also collaborated as block designers with Partners in Design; hosting over 6 quilt alongs. Often when I see her quilts or blocks, I am wowed each time. So, let’s dive into her new book a little and see what treasures she holds for us.
Storybook Quilts by Laura Piland

We all know that every quilt tells a story, and this book does just that. Each quilt in this book is inspired by a story from a book that Laura read to her kids! Storybook Quilts takes illustrations from classic children’s books and transforms them into beautiful, sewable quilt patterns.

What I love about this book is that it grew organically from Laura’s experience as a quilter and as a mom. She wanted to create memories with her kids, and I am sure she did. If you hop over to her etsy store, you can see the book and order the book and/or kits for the quilts! You can also order it at my affiliate link with amazon here*.

What I love about this book is that we, like Laura, can now create our own memories. My plan is to make a few and have them for second babies for my son’s friends. I think this will be a blast and that it will be a perfect followup to the first baby quilts. The older sibling may already know the book and will enjoy teaching the younger sibling about it. I can’t wait to get started.

Let’s all celebrate her fantastic achievement! I am toasting Laura and her success virtually, and hope you can do the same.
A Special Thanks to my Loyal Readers

Just wanted to say thanks to all my internet quilting friends and supporters out there. It is fun when we see another quilter grow and become successful. You, my readers, are part of this and I thank you for it. It is not often that I get to share someone else’s work, but this is one of life’s great privileges, helping our friends.
Coming Up On the Blog
I am pleased with the progress in the quilting room. I have two quick things to finish, the Glowing Hearts quilt and the napkins. The Plaidish quilt top is done, too, and that will need a larger backing than what I have here…I think. The dino quilt needs 2 blocks and assembly, so it all feels within reach (even with to days off island). Wish me luck!

What a fun book!
I don’t see the connection of the quilts to books but then I haven’t read any children’s books in years. I’m never really around children all that much anymore of that age group. I will love to see what you make from them.
Oh congratulations to Laura! I love her Exploding Heart quilt pattern and decided while making it that is was the most brilliant pattern I’ve sewn. I intend to make more. I just jumped over and read her post about making Exploding Heart quilts for the family of her husband’s best friend who passed away last year – amazing! I wish her great success with her book.
Cool book!!! I love it when children’s books have quilts in them! Kudos to Laura for making this book!!!
Congratulations to Laura on her new book! Glad to hear that you are making progress on your various projects, Kathleen. Happy finishing!
The book sounds wonderful. Looking forward to seeing your future quilt projects.
