Seeing beautiful, creative quilts is so much fun and the parade of quilts of finished SAHRR quilts begins today so be prepared to see some beauties! I can’t wait to show you my quilt, remind the participants of the linky party, and see what you have been up to since the end of February. Mine is finished and quilted, and I love it!
The Quilting

Here is where we left off at the end of February. The top was all done, and it just needed quilting.

I chose to do an all over pattern, called, Squiggle, on my Prostitcher designs. I tested a few others, but decided I really wanted a looser overall pattern, and nothing particularly windy or wavy or feminine. Now, I am not sure why, but that was my thinking.

I used a teal thread, #471 Glacier*, Superior So Fine for the top and a Superior Superior Threads SuperBobs Polyester* M-Style Gray Prewound Bobbi on my Handiquilter Simply Sixteen. It quilted up quickly, and I really think it works out well. I sized it to almost 6″ so it repeated well in the borders and blocks. I love So Fine thread as it looks like cotton and really “sinks” into the quilt, and is rather subtle, even when it is darker or lighter than than the fabric it is on. The batting I used was Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 and it gives it all a nice definition.

I used an old fabric I had on hand, a fun paisley for the backing. It has all the colors in it, and really worked out well. I also used the last “log fabric”, a batik as the binding, which went well with the front and back. Now, I had just enough for the this backing, it was a close call but it worked out!

What I love about this quilt is that it is not feminine or masculine. It finished at 48″ square so it would be a nice back of the couch quilt, or a perfect summer porch quilt.

Linky Party

Gail is hosting the link for the finished quilts – either just the top or the quilted piece!
The SAHRR team will be meeting via Zoom in the 2nd week of April to pick the winners. We have a data base with numbers assigned to each entry that each person has provided. Using a random number generator, we choose each of the winners. Winners will be notified by email. Once all winners accept, we will announce the winners on our blog!
In order to link up you will need to go to Quilting Gail!
Prizes

We have a great selection of prizes to award, and here is what we know right now:
1 of 3 fat quarter bundles from Island Batik, a gift certificate from the Fat Quarter Shop*, an iron from Oliso, batting from Hobbs Batting, a pattern of your choice from A Quilter, from Devoted Quilter, and from Sew Fresh Quilts and thread from Aurifil are among the prizes. For each linky party you entered, you get a number and then we draw random numbers until all the prizes are awarded!

I love your teal sampler quilt! What a beautiful way to use up fabric that you already had.
Kathleen love this sampler! Soome of my favorite colors and I love a good paisley! Great job!
You made a beautiful quilt Kathleen! The backing is perfect, and the quilting looks wonderful.
How fantastic that you had just enough of that fabric for the backing; it’s perfect for this quilt! Congratulations on the beautiful finish!
Your SAHRR turned out fantastic!!! I absolutely love the colours and how you put it all together!!! I’m so very happy that you’re part of the SAHRR team!!
Your SAHRR turned out beautifully, Kathleen! Enjoy!
What a great finish! I like your design choice for quilting, and yay for a backing that works just right!
Wow, your quilt turned out beautifully! I love doing a back-and-forth quilting design. Like you, I’ve found an old (or as Rose says, a vintage) fabric for my backing and plan to quilt it up tomorrow!
Very pretty quilt. The quilting design really suits it well.
The backing is a great choice, and I love the quilting! Congrats on making it to the finish line, Kathleen! 🙂
This is beautiful and I love the way you’ve quilted it 🙂
Love the finished SAHRR, Kathleen!!! I like the style you put together, a sampler quilt. Fun use of the backing fabric. And of course I love Squiggle!!!
I love the symmetry and colors in your SAHRR. I’ve had “Squiggle” used on one of my previous quilts and love the design. Thanks for hosting, along with Gail and the others.
Love you finish, Kathleen! I think Squiggle was a great way to quilt it! Thanks for joining us at Monday Musings!
Thanks for linking up with Favorite Finish!
