I can’t wait to show you my finished Stay at Home Round Robin quilt. It is completely different from where I thought I would end up. Its funny how this often happens with these quilts.
A Review of Weeks 1 – 6
I rather forgot the progression, therefore a little slideshow will show you were it all began and how we progressed week to week.
I wasn’t done when I added the 6th prompt. When I was discussing it on email with Gail, I came up with a plan!
More Sea Glass
Sea Glass was the answer. This came from some sea glass I had collected over the summer. Quietly, I had participated in the Summer Lovin’ Seaglass SAL where you picked a color scheme, things that gave you joy and tracked them for the summer. Something distracted me and I never finished the entire collecting of fabric sea glass. No time like the present. I dutifully finished cutting the sea glass I collected over the summer for things like walking, going to the water, seeing friends, quilting, date night, and reading. I thought if I put June’s collection on the quilt it would be perfect. It was! I am thinking of putting July & August sea glass in a map of Peaks Island….we shall see if I like it or not.
The Quilting
I was pretty sure this would wind up being the perfect quilting pattern Catching Waves/Bubbles from Christy Dillon. It quilted like a charm!
And here’s a picture of the front and back! I decided to use Linen Glide for the back – and it was perfect. The front was quilted in a light blue that nearly disappeared in many places so you focus on the fabrics and the texture rather than the thread. I decided to name it “Summer Glimmers”, as I really just love the way it turned out and the memories of summer glimmer like the sea glass on this quilt.
