I loved this pattern from the moment I saw it; it was designed by Yvonne Fuchs of Quilting Jetgirl. You can see all the information on the QAL here. I decided to join the QAL and went for the most difficult setting. Of course, this was all before I knew I would be running my own QAL, but once I am committed, I am in. I persisted with this; it is the last of my 3 2023 QALs to be finished. It is nearly there, but the quilting will be delayed a little longer. However, this is a post, celebrating the QAL and connecting the parade of quilts, hosted by Yvonne here.

My Fabric Choices
For QALs, I try to use my stash and was able to that for this one. I did need to purchase one fabric, and that was the purple used in the drunkard’s path blocks.

Yes, my first block was a bit muddy….but I persisted.

Here is what the first 6 blocks looked like. I could have been a bit more precise on the piecing of the curves! I decided not to let pride get in the way and forge ahead.

These are the next 3 blocks. You can see I did not follow Yvonne’s setting, mostly because my colors shifted a few times and I moved things around row by row.

As the final row was added, you will see the top row is now the third row! I am waiting to assemble the quilt and batting as I will need to finagle this quilt on the frame a little differently since it is a bit bigger than most of my quilts.

I am hoping the humidity drops and I can do the spray basting in a day or two. My long arm also had an upgrade, and so I am relearning a few things. A benefit quilt is being quilted before I put this on the frame. I am glad to share in the final linky party, only sorry that I didn’t get it quilted, but it shouldn’t be long. I the fall, I am hoping to begin training for hospice and hope that I can send this quilt to a hospice.

No changes from prior post. I will add Diatom in when it is quilted.
It’s beautiful Kathleen.
I love your batiks in this pattern! It’s really a gorgeous quilt. I look forward to seeing it quilted. What was the upgrade to your longarm? How wonderful that you will begin hospice training. Are you a nurse? Hope you are having a great weekend.
Oh, wow! What an amazing project, Kathleen. Congrats on finishing up your Diatom QAL quilt top!
Wow! I love this. The curved blocks as sashing are just amazing. Really cool quilt Kathleen!
Your quilt finished up great, Kathleen! I love the curved blocks, and wish I would’ve gone with that for mine. Guess I’ll have to make another one!
Beautiful, beautiful quilt, Kathleen!!! You’ve been the SAL queen this year!!!
Well done, Kathleen! How exciting to learn of your training for hospice!
What a beautifull top! With batics it looks completely different, lighter … not so planned.. with pure solids it would look „harder“.. sorry not knowing how to express better. Guess you know what I mean. I love the blue for the circles you choose. Always good to get a project done!
What a big and important task ahead. Much power for this task. We all should be gratefull that there are people like you who do that. Everybody could have a family member who could come in the situation to be in a hospiz.
Your quilt top is gorgeous! Love these pretty fabrics, it’s going to be a fabulous donation quilt.
Thank you for sharing this beauty, and linking up!
I hope the upgrade to your longarm went well and that the learning curve goes quickly. I love that you arranged the blocks to work best for your version of the quilt, and I’m so glad you joined in and did the Postage Stamp Throw version, too. Have fun quilting it when you are ready!
I love how the curved piecing turns out in this quilt. Beautiful! Plus, using up stash always feels good. I’m sure the hospice will love this!
That turned out great!! I love seeing how all the different colorways make the quilt look different – that is just so cool to me!!
What a beautiful finish! I’m in awe of it. You are quite the quilter, Kathleen.
What a fun QAL. The circular sashing blocks is so unique. I can understand why you were tempted to join this one.
Your Diatom Quilt is GORGEOUS, Kathleen! Love the colors – they sing to me! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings!
What a neat quilt! It will be interesting to see how you quilt it, curves or angles?
