Sometimes you needs some help decorating for a party. When I saw this fabric, aptly named Party Line by Blank Quilting, I knew it would be fun to use for a table runner and make decorating a cinch. I hope you enjoy the two runners I made from this fabulous fabric.

Let the Fabric Do the Work

I love simple table runners and this fabric totally fit the bill. This is a celebration just waiting to happen and having a runner with these fabrics on hand mean you don’t need to worry about decorations, just food and drink! I loved the striped fabric and the balloons were just too fun not to get and put on the back.

Before I even got to make mine, I sent some to a friend who is always having birthday parties with her grands and still had plenty to make these two runners.

I used two different quilting patterns. One is just a plain stipple and really works well. Sometimes I find this is the best as it is basic, but really allows the fabric to shine through.

On the sceond, I used Piano Key Swag, which was meant for a piano key border. I thought it might be a bit risky, but I love it. In order to use it, I rotated the design for the second pass so it would mirror the other side. I also offset it a tiny bit so I didn’t have to worry about it meeting or not in the middle. It worked like a charm.

Coming Up on the Blog
I was away and will be away a little or entertaining some in August, so things are moving slowly. The next art walk sale is in September 2nd and I would like to be caught up by then on the ferry pillows (making 12), so that may be the bulk of my work over the next few weeks!

I added a few quilts and items that I sold here….as they were never added into a stash busting when I made them, so that is good. I did add some fabric in MN but all in all, I am in negative territory!

Clever you, finding and using that fabric! You’re right, it’s perfect for celebrations, and I’m sure your friend will get tons of use from the runners!
What marvelous prints for party tables!
Oh wow! Love the festive color! Terrific tablerunners!
Hi Kathleen! Thank you for the inspiration!! I still have the piece sitting on my hassock – just waiting for me to have the idea to do something with it. YES!! It can be just as it is and be perfect. I’m going to finish it off for the next birthday, which is Dominic’s in September. I’m grateful for your friendship and for you sharing this lovely fabric with me. The kiddos will be SO excited to see it for the next party. We have one more on the way – he is due in mid-November. {{Hugs}} a bunch!!! ~smile~ Roseanne
Hi Kathleen, I love it when the fabric can do most of the work. Great job on the runners! Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks. Have a good August 🙂
Cute runners, Kathleen!!! You’re still in the negative area after MN?!!! You’re amazing!!!
Love the fabric! Can you tell us the name of the line and the manufacturer so we might find some in our area?
Rotating the piano key motif and offsetting it for the second half of the runner was a great idea. I love it when the prints can do all the heavy lifting for you!
Those are perfect for decorating for a party!! Love the happy Vibe!
Great use for these fabrics, and so happy too!
