First Quarter Review

Yvonne, also known as Quilting Jetgirl, posted a few days ago a review of her 2023 goals. She challenged us to take a look, and I think that was a good idea. I am ready to see where I am and whether progress has been made or not.

Quarter 1 Review

2023 Goals

You can see the original post and goals here. It wasn’t an extensive list, but I am pretty pleased with my progress as I look at it.

Stash in Medford

Use up my stash and keep a stash in and out count:

  • I am keeping a list of this, and right now am definitely using the stash!
  • I am down over 6 yards!

Participate in 6 blog hops or QALs/SALs:
I participated in 3 blog hops already! You can see the logos up here.

Publish 3 patterns:
No progress. I just haven’t been creating my own work, need to push myself to do a little more here. I think some of it is due to the pile-up of projects from breaking my ankle last year!

New website theme:
I am looking at a few and testing one out. I also need to move my website and my mailing list has required some work. Fortunately, users should not notice the move, if all goes well. I think there will be more progress on this in Quarter 2.

Conquer some of the Projects In Waiting:
I am pleased to report that 4 were completed, 12 remain. This looks to be right on target.

  • Villa Rosa/ Orphan Quilter/Tricia Maloney Hop
  • Blue Blog Hop
  • Stay At Home Round Robbin
  • Winter Block quilt ( a blog post on this will post Thursday).

Coming Up on My Blog

This week I am hosting TGIFF, somewhere last week I checked my calendar and realized I was a week ahead of myself. I will begin the behind the scenes work on my Fab Farm Sew Along and continue to sew on the Diatom Block of the month. I also will have a project or two to prep for an upcoming retreat. I started cutting some of it Saturday, realized I need a different background than the one I planned, so there is some fabric sourcing to be done, too.

Looks like you are hitting on all cylinders! I was just thinking yesterday that I need to reign in my wandering mind and get back to my list. But first I need to clean my plate, so I am focusing on getting some quilting done before I start anything new. My studio had just become a pile of stuff! Looks like you are hitting on all cylinders!

That’s excellent to be able to look at your goals and realize that many are right no track. I also like having a goal that feels like a stretch, and I do hope that as you work through your other goals it frees up more time for you to think about writing your own patterns.

Sounds like you are doing a great job of checking things off the list, Kathleen! Best of luck on additional stash use and further finishes in the coming quarter.

I, too, like seeing those nicely organized bins. It sure does feel good to use up the stash, even if it makes you suck in your breath (using the Jinny Beyer as the backing on my SAHRR). I love seeing your VRD blog hop quilt again, just so very pretty. I hear you and see you on the pattern release front! Gotta remedy that.

Great job all around, Kathryn!!! I’m planning on joining you for the Fab Farm SAL. What do you mean by you’re going to move your web site? New address?

I’d say that you have had a great 1st quarter! That has got to feel good! Congrats!

You’ve made wonderful progress! Love those organized bins. Good luck with the website move – will it be a new platform?

It’s so good to see your lovely fabric all sorted and organized and so much progress on your goals. Well done using up stash. 6 yards is a great start. Good luck with the website. 🙂

Sounds like you are on a great track. And it wouldn’t be yearly goals if one or two were not done yet 😉 And all the tech things you have up there probably take quite a while as well. Good luck for your next quarter! xo
