A little fire must have been lit under this quilter during the last few weeks. In all honesty, I was encouraged to finish some things by joining in with Leanne Parsons at Devoted Quilter and her annual WIPS-Be-Gone 2022 party. WIPs are Works In Process and there are always quite a few in my sewing studio. Most of these were simple finishes, many were things that I had planned to do before summer set in, but that didn’t happen. I am pretty pleased with all the little things that were finished up at the end of the year and excited to share them with you.
Ferry Pillows

When I designed this ferry block for the Partners In Design QAL Destination QAL (2021), I made a few versions. I knew these would make delightful pillows and I am proud to show them to you.

To make the job quicker, I loaded all three on the Tabitha, my HQ Simply Sixteen with Prostitcher. The pantograph is Catching Bubbles by Christy Dillon of My Creative Stiches. It also has a version with bubbles which I look forward to using some other time!

Here is a close up of the front and back of one of the pillows. It gives a lot of nice definition and all the

I love seeing them all displayed together. They are with some navigation tools that my father-in-law used in the navy!
And here is a slideshow of all 3 (I finally got that working, again).
Cheers Bags

This was a Kimberbell project from last year. I made one, but liked it enough that I ordered a few more bags to have on hand. I thought it would be perfect to have at a craft fair or have on hand for a housewarming gift. The original design had Happy New Year, but I edited that out so it would be more versatile bag.

Each one is a little different – one I just outlined the letters, the second has the silver (alhtough it looks gold) vinyl, and another I inadvertently changed the colors. I like it with the silver vinyl, and finally think I understand how to trim something like this when you need to keep it hooped!

Here’s a shot of them in use, filled with some delicious wine!

And then, I thought I’d get some of my glassware in a shot, for a little fun. If we
A Block Just For Fun

This bear block is part of a series of blocks that will be issued by San Franciso Stich Company and is called Winter Twist. I loved it and have done the first one; it is the only one available right now. It was fun to start a little squirrel project while I had my machine set up to do the bags. The rest will be released in the next few weeks, which I am looking forward to.
We are on the road for the next 3 days – a less than 2 hour trip to Boston, then to northern NJ, then to Reading, PA. The traffic can be a nightmare, and splitting it up a bit has always made us happy! Tomorrow I will be back with Tips and Tutorials and then quiet until after Christmas.

I love the ferry pillows! I have that pattern, and you’ve reminded me that I’d like to make one (maybe in 2023!). All the projects look great, and I’m sure it feels good to have them done! Safe travels to you all!
Congrats on a bunch of fun finishes, Kathleen!!
Lovely finishes and I bet it feels good to have those WIP items complete. Safe travels and Merry Christmas to you!
Your pillows are so perfect for you on the coast! And the quilting is just right too;) The bags sitting by the teal backsplash-is that in your kitchen, so pretty!
I love those ferry pillows. You have been a finishing machine. Great job!
Have a wonderful holiday season, and take some time to put your feet up and sit back with good thoughts. 20233 is fast approaching, and there are so many w.i.p.s to start.
You did get a spark!! Those pillows are just amazing!!!! Great job!!!
Hi Kathleen! Cute projects! I’ve always wanted to make some Cheers bags but haven’t gotten around to it! Very cute and cheers is always a fitting sentiment. The Ferry Pillows are all great and just a wee bit different. I’ll bet they were fun to make, and the navigation tools fit them so well. It makes a nice welcoming display. Finally, that bear is really COOL. I look forward to seeing the other blocks in the series. Safe travels! I hope you are safe ahead of the big storm that is to hit us tomorrow and Friday. {{Hugs}} Merry Christmas! ~smile~ Roseanne
So fun to see your Ferry block again. I loved it before and even more now. Your Cheers bags are so gorgeous! They will make great gifts for someone. That Bear block is lovely. No wonder you couldn’t resist. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
Forgot to say Merry Christmas! Stay safe as you drive to your destination.
Look at you, finishing up those WIPs left and right! January will get here and you will be so sad, with no projects left to work on…. ROFLAL! As if! The wine bags look great. Do you make those ahead of time and keep them on hand for host/hostess gifts? It makes that bottle of wine seem way less “last-minute.” Happy holidays and congrats on your finishes!
I love those cushions! The ferry reminds me of the riverboat in Tuscaloosa! So cool. The bags are awesome as well! They would definitely make great housewarming/hostess gifts! The little block is very cute too!
The ferry pillows are so sweet! Love the wine bags, what a great gift. Hope you have safe travels and enjoy your Christmas!
Such great finishes! Love the bear block, too!!! Merry Christmas and safe travels, Kathleen!
Hi Kathleen, those are great little projects. I like the wine bags with the vinyl – how cool! Thanks so much for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks. Enjoy your travels!
