Destination: Quilt Along – Block 6

I am so excited about this block, as it represents something near and dear to my heart. Jennifer, from the Inquiring Quilter, is the designer of the 6th block in the series. It is an Amish bridge!

Now, that is truly one of my favorite things. You can find her pattern here, but, maybe, before you go you will stop and take a look at t a bridge that is near and dear to my heart.

I grew up very near this covered bridge. It is called Wertz’s Covered Bridge and was erected in 1867. I never knew this, but it is the largest single-span-covered bridge in Pennsylvania. It was always one of my favorite walks alongside the Tulpehocken Creek. You can learn more about the bridge here.

The creek was a fun place for us to walk along. We would look for fish and even sometimes fish there. I never loved fishing, but I loved hearing the water run and looking at the old mills on either side of the bridge.

Be sure to check out the other hosts for their versions (above) of Jennifer’s block and their hints for making it!

Fun memory you share about this covered bridge. Whenever I see covered bridges, it brings back the movie Funny Farm and the whole covered bridge scene. Nice photos!

Hi Kathleen! What a fun pattern and how fab that it brings back such wonderful memories. The longest single-span-covered-bridge!! How cool is that. I will check out the other posts for their tips and tricks – they used such cute fabrics. {{Hugs}} I hope you are doing well. ~smile~ Roseanne
