Today’s blog is short and to the point. Carla, from Creatin in the Sticks, is always coming up with something and this one is too easy not to do. I am not even obligated to update whatever I resolve, so this is a win all around.

My stitching resolution for 2021 is DPQ! to make more of my own designs, and turn them into patterns and quilts.

Since 2017, I have spent a lot of time learning Electric Quilt 8 (from OnPointQuilter), motivated by being an Island Batik ambassador. I also have spent the last few years whittling down my UFOs (UnFinished Objects) and can see the light of day. I have always made more new projects than finished old ones. I fall into the trap of doing other peoples projects, so this is focusing on my design aesthetic and seeing where it takes me. DPQ in 2021….here I come!

I have three tools I use, at least. Electric Quilt 8, Prostitcher Designer to plan the quilting and Prostitcher to do the quilting. I hope to share some fun patterns and tips and tutorials from these adventures. Now, don’t forget…

Hi Kathleen, what a great Resolution. I have tried to make my own patterns in the past and it has been a disaster!!!! I then go and find a pattern on the web to use so I do hope you succeed in your plan. Making quilting patterns is not as easy as it looks!!!! Have a wonderful 2021. Hugs & Love, Susie xx
Love your simple, yet complex, resolution! I know you’ll succeed with the design portion! Writing patterns is a LOT of work!
Happy Quilting! 🙂
Design pattern quilt is a great resolution, even if it’s not an easy one. I’m looking forward to seeing your creations. Happy new year!
Designing patterns sounds like it will be fun and challenging. Have a great new year!
I like your simple approach and your stitching resolution. I admire pattern makers and look forward to seeing yours.
I also tend to start new projects and not finish old ones, but I’m trying not to be too hard on myself for 2021. 😉
Good luck with your 2021 goals.
Sounds like a fun year ahead – if you need someone to test, you know where I am 🙂
I have EQ but am just so old school and just resort to pencil/paper or graph – and quilt math is easy for me to quickly figure fabric requirements and size changes. I should pass my EQ on to someone else.
Definitely a great resolution and fun to resolve! LOL I love designing, it’s getting around to the writing part that slows me down!
Great resolution! I look forward to seeing what you come up with–I always love your designs!
So looking forward to seeing your new designs, Kathleen. Good luck. Writing, testing and marketing a pattern takes as much or more time as making the quilt itself.
Your resolution is perfect! I’m adopting it.
I’m right there with you, sister. I need to spend more time on all three DPQ and the 3 programs EQ, PS, & PSD. Need to update them too. Great goals – I wrote them down for me too. Thanks and Happy New Year!
Great resolution, good luck on achieving it! Happy New year!
I will look froward to seeing the end result.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of your designs in 2021, Kathleen! And put me down for a tester, too!
Sounds like a nice short list Kathleen! Not really, it will be great to see where you take this! I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you do with EQ8.
I missed your blank post…sounds like something I would do! LOL I love your short list, though it sounds pretty hefty to me. You will rock at all of them, I’m sure! Happy New Year!
I like your goals. I have EQ and have never really taken the time to just sit and learn it. Expensive tool to go to waste.
Love your goals and will definitely be following your blog.
I hope to learn more about EQ8 this year also. I haven’t done much with it.
I look forward to seeing what you create and the new patterns you release in 2021!
Enjoy your adventure in 2021, design, pattern, and quilt!
Your resolution is one I should make mine also. I just upgraded to EQ8, but never had a grasp on 7, so when I opened 8 my head just spun. LOL!! I’m rooting for you and know you will make your goal this year. Can’t wait to see what you design. Happy New Year!
Best of luck on your DPQ goals for the New Year!!
I’ll be looking forward to seeing your DPQ posts as you keep your resolution Carol
Perfect resolution! Can’t wait to see what you do!
Oh this sounds like such a great resolution. Wishing you the best in getting there and then sharing with everyone your talents in the New Year.
That’s a wonderful and lofty resolution for 2021. Best of all, I was inspired when you said you’d whittled away many projects from the UFO pile. There is HOPE, thank you.
