And, I am back hosting Thank Goodness It’s Finished Friday! It is my pleasure to share my version of the scrappy Granny Block quilt.

I belong to a small group of quilters who met during the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers. One of us egged the group on to make a quilt together, but separately. The quilt chosen was the Scrappy Granny Squares Quilt Pattern by Quilt Love/Emily Dennis Creative LLC. You can see some of the other versions: Jan’s, Nancy’s, Wendy’s and Rose’s. I’m the last to finish, but that is ok with me.

My plan solidified when I won a great jelly roll of Snippets from Scott Fortunoff @ Jaftex Corporation during the Quarantine Trivia. Right now he is doing “School with Scott” and you can enter to win prizes by watching the video and answering the questions.

I had fun working on it. I had ordered some gray and white low volume prints and I thought it would be fun with this pattern.

I had a little trouble quilting it – for some reason my thread was acting up. Before I get too close to quilting another quilt, I will make sure to do a test sandwich to see what is going on. I used a lofty polyester and it does give a lot of definition to the quilting.

The pattern I quilted it was from Handiquilter and is available via there facebook page. Here is the link for Home and Heart. Fun fact – this design was inspired by another quilter form the 2017 New Quilt Blogger Group, Laura Piland of Slice of PI Quilts and her quarantine quilt, Stay at Home.

In many ways, this was a true quarantine quilt, but I am turning its purpose into something good. It will go to Jack’s Basket, where quilts are given as part of a basket for families celebrate and welcome a Down’s Syndrome baby into a family.

The back, too, is an expression of love, with all the joyful hearts on the fabric. I will wash and send this off to MN in the next few days.

Love your granny square quilt, very pretty! The linky party needs to be refreshed. Happy stitching!
I just realized I don’t think I’ve posted about my granny squares. I think I showed it to our group and that’s it. Anyway, I like your version with its bright, happy colors and the backing is so good!
The link party is an old one, you need a new code. Love Granny Squares!!! I have one throw size I need to quilt.
What a lovely finish (with a sweet win and a quilt to benefit a good cause!!)
Love the granny squares. Fun quilting pattern as well. Thanks for the link!
The hearts in the center and on back are so cute!!! Nice touch! Thanks for supporting Jack’s Basket with your quilt donation, Kathleen!!! That’s such a fun quilt to make!
A granny square quilt has been on my to do list and after seeing yours I will move it to the top. Nicely done and is sure to be loved.
Hi Kathleen! I have no finish to share, darn it. But I adore your quilt!! It truly brings me right back to my childhood with a granny-square quilt that my grandmother had made. Of course, I didn’t appreciate it then but I sure wonder where it is now. I also just love the pattern you chose to quilt this – and how cool that it is designed by Laura!! I have wanted to make a version of this quilt for ages – and you are inspiring me to move it up the list for sure. Really nice job! ~smile~ Roseanne
very cute quilt – it will be loved
Hello Kathleen, my Bloglovin’ continues to not show me WordPress blogs and I’m sorry to have missed so many of your posts recently. This is a sweet quilt and I’m sure that it will be really well appreciated and loved by its recipient. This year seems to need a bit of extra love and care to balance it out, so thank you for your kindness and generosity!
