Welcome to Block 10 of the QAL by the Sea! I grew up going to the NJ shore and I have fond memories of crabs! You will certainly enjoy making “Ab the Crab” designed by Abbie of Sparkle On!

One my two favorite memories are my grandmother, with newspapers spread across the kitchen table, enjoy her crabs. She loved picking them apart and enjoyed the succulent crab meat fresh from the pot! Of course, if you are from the area you know two things are important when making crabs, a can of stale beer and Old Bay Spice! The second is just enjoying time on the water crabbing – whether on a dock or the small boat my father would rent to fish for a couple days each year in the bay

Funny – I just realized that while we were in Maine, I never had any crab (that I can recall). Plenty of lobster, but I seriously love crab. Stale beer? You’ll have to share the skinny on that with me. Cute quilt block!
Hi Kathleen! I love crab, too . . . and stale beer?! Definitely Old Bay – we use that all the time on a variety of things beyond seafood. It’s a staple in our home. ~smile~ Roseanne
I love Old Bay seasoning. Best for almost any seafood. I lived in Delaware for 4 years and there were roadside crab sellers with the daily catch of fresh crabs from Maryland everywhere like vegetable stands.
Your sky fabric looks like the Ab is on the sand under the evening sky.
Great blocks! There’s going to be some beautiful quilts made from the “By the Sea” QAL!! Happy Quilting! 🙂
