2020-12 Monthly Color Challenge – September

I know….September. What the heck happened? This summer sure flew by some days and other days it crawled to a hot humid halt other. However, the crisp air of fall is beginning to spread its wings, the light is getting less, and soon the fires will be indoors and blankets and layers of quilts will once again cover our beds. Jen, of Patterns by Jen, created a lovely block for this month; I will show you my version in a moment.

Her color way this month was based on the duck, the Cinnamon Teal. Well, I don’t see much teal on this bird but cinnamon, oh yeah. And look at that lovely red eye! I only know one other bird with a red eye (and that is a loon). There may be others, but right now I love this duck in all its glory.

I don’t have a lot of fall-ish colors in the fabric line I chose. So, my cinnamon is a brighter version. I love the way this fabric line has lights and darks, mostly floral patterns, but every once in awhile you have a star…kind of like a duck with a red eye! Go get the block at Jen’s blog, its fun and easy and free for the month.

This is an easy block but what happens when you use this block in a quilt? Here are 3 simple options I put together in Electric Quilt 8*!

The linkup below will go live when Jen’s does – it is usually open for a few days before the end of the month.

Hi Kathleen! Oh, I just love, love, LOVE the fabrics you chose for this block. I never knew there were any birds with red eyes. Hmm. You learn something new every day, don’t you?! Thanks for sharing how this block would look in several different settings. EQ8 is just great for that don’t you think? Enjoy the long weekend and intro to Fall. We’ll have very Fall-ish temperatures. ~smile~ Roseanne
