Can it be that it is time to declare my one monthly goal (OMG)? July went by so quickly. However, I have to admit that I am kind of scared to but I am committing to finishing this piece. It has hung on my wall for quite some time and I would like to get my design wall back.

Now, I have started sewing patches and rows and trying to figure out edges. It all began in a workshop, given by Nancy Halpern in May of 2017, with the Rising Star Quilters Guild. I wrote about it here. It is time and I am determined to get it done. UFOs that are puzzles (gotta figure something out before the next step) are ones that do take longer to get back to. My solution, now, is that I do a little every day.

This may not look like much but a bunch of pieces are already sewn together.

The other purpose of my writing is to to update how my PhD in 2020 is coming along. In order to finish my ocean scene, I will have to work on the above piece a little each day. It will be my 8th finish if I get it done this month, 18th for the year.

Although this does not show up on the new projects right now, I will add this to the list, right after this blog is done. This is for Edith, born early, and will be a rainbow quilt of many colors. It is from Elizabeth Hartman’s Delightful Desert* (they are on 30% off at the FQ Shop this month) and I am hoping to get it done by September. This all should be pretty doable. I am ready to cut out the next block and there are only 9, so a few each day should get me to the end of September.

And Monday, August 10 is pattern release day! I am finally going to release the pattern I did for Island Batik’s spring catalog. This whole thing is a little anti-climatic since Spring Quilt Market didn’t happen but I love the quilt. I hope you do, too. The pattern will be available on my website at a discount for the first 48 hours. The above is a little preview, so I hope you come back Monday to see it.

Oh, another Elizabeth Hartman pattern for you this year! Excited to see your progress–and I love your purple friend!!!
You are so creative Kathleen, I am looking forward to seeing your finished ocean scene.
Hi Kathleen! I love the OMG projects that are inspired by wanting the design wall cleared. I’ve had a few of them. Congrats on how well you’re doing on your UFOs. And, BIG huge congrats on the pattern release. It looks very springy to me – like a tulip bursting forth for all to enjoy. Can’t wait. ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project.
I’m so far behind in my PHD, and I can’t remember the last time I declared a OMG. Where does the time go????
You have a lot of fun things going on, I too love the purple.
What a fun sun….I too love all the things you are doing. I need to come by more often.
