I figured it out…that is what is missing in this time, variety. I don’t know about you but there is a lot I can do to cope with social distancing, but there are other days that I am just unable to getting myself moving. So, today’s blog will have a lot of different things in it to provide some variety. First up, is a QAL that I am participating in called Centred by Sandra at mmmQuilts!

This is not the final layout, but I did may the first and second blocks…it doesn’t require a lot of yardage, so I was able to work from my stash! The blocks are released on Fridays, and you can catch up quickly. I made both (8 blocks total) in under two hours on Saturday.

Up next is a quilt by my friend, Laurel. She made this for her daughter, based on my “My Blue Mountains” pattern. It is so much fun to see this. It is a free pattern on my blog and is found here.

And, here is the back. Laurel and I have known each other for almost 20 years, She was the reason I joined Rising Star Guild – but she has since moved away. We do communicate frequently about our quilts (and other things too), it has been great to keep up this way. This is still a free pattern on my blog if you are interested in making your own.

Nancy, of Grace and Peace Quilting, made this terrific little quilt and blogged about it here. It is based on a pattern I did for the Partners in Design Sew Let’s QAL last year and you can find it here.

15 minute demos – all on facebook on the hour, some repeating on the half hour on Instagram. I’ll be there Friday at at 4 on Facebook and 4:30 on Instagram.

I love both versions of My Blue Mountain –the purple in your Centered QAL blocks is gorgeous!
Thank you! I have stashed that purple a very long time…and am really happy to use it for this project. It is fun when you actually have what you need.
I agree, I’ve found that playing with a variety of things seems to make me feel better during this quarantine. I like that My Blue Mountain pattern; I might have to add that one to my ever-growing list of things to make!
I can’t wait to see what you do with the pattern!
Hi Kathleen! What a fun bunch of newsy news. Your Centred blocks look great and I’m not even a purple fan. Such rich looking tones those fabrics have. And Laurel’s version of your mountain pattern looks wonderful. I wonder why I haven’t made anything with this mountain pattern yet?! Finally, Nancy’s mini quilt is beautiful and very fitting to remember every day. ~smile~ Roseanne
Thanks, Roseanne. I do love those purple fabrics and so fun to see my friends versions. I can’t wait to see what you do…it is a fun little thing to make.
Love your fabrics for Centered!!!!! So pretty! That marbled fabric, especially. It’s gret to see a second version of My Blue Mountains!
That marbled fabric is an old favorite and one I stashed for so long. I am so happy to use it. It was really fun to see another version of My Blue Mountains and I hear another is coming….
