Sometime ago Kim ( Go Go Kim) and Natalie (Sew Hungry Hippie) put out a call for quilters and crafters to join a #swapmob to cure the #holidayhangover swap. I couldn’t resist….I love making bags and thought it would be the perfect project after the holidays.

Canvas Pencil Pouch by Noodlehead
A few days later this lovely was in my feed. There are so many bag patterns, but this one came across my desk at just the right time – the Canvas Pencil Pouch by Noodlehead. I looked at a lot of other bags and even started a Pinterest board here but I couldn’t get it out of my mind.

These are the 3 that I made! The last is the first (ha ha) and what you don’t see is that the back panel is wrong; the fabrics are reversed. Don’t you love the leather pulls? I ordered a few online from Neathercraft on Etsy and was thrilled. They came promptly and although a little big for this bag, I really like them.

I added my tags to them.

The linings are as luscious as the outsides.

This went to my first partner in Michigan. Orange was a favorite color and she seemed to have a sunshiny personality, so I wanted to reflect that in the bag.

Someone needed an angel (her original partner dropped out). She likes brights and purples were one of her favorite colors. I sent this to Wisconsin, but never heard from her. How strange.

For both partners, I added in a fat quarter from my time as an Island Batik Ambassador.

This is the wonderful stuff I received. Isn’t that bag gorgeous! The little lamb pincushion is loving Maine and I love using it. I shared the chocolates at a meeting and am wondering what to do with that duck tape??? Time to search the internet – it is a tie die color – so fun.

Hope you enjoyed the bags, I sure did. I have a few more cut out and another pattern to try! I really want to get some of the wider teeth zippers, but maybe that can be a QuiltCon item!

Cute bags that you made and received. Too bad the person you were an angel to didn’t respond…makes you wonder if it got lost! Perhaps the person who arranged the swap could reach out and see if it got there. I hope it did and life happened to make them forget to thank you.
I love your bags, and the goodies are awesome. What a fun swap!
It was fun! I don’t do a lot of them, but somehow it called my name!
What fun!! The bags you made are such a useful size. And fun treats to go with them. I can only imagine why she didn’t acknowledge your gift–a sick child, depression, etc. It’s never too late to say thank you. Ohh, and that pin cushion you received is adorable!!! As well as the bag and goodies, of course! Nice!!!
It was a really fun swap. I really have a whole list of bags to make….now for some time! I am sure something happened, but just to say thanks. As an angel, I didn’t really expect anything in return but knowing that it got there.
You know I love bags and pouches – these are so fun! Love the leather pulls, I’m going to have to check that out. I need to get some labels, I think, too! Too bad you never heard back from one recipient; strange indeed.
I love that bag! Its a quick make and fun with the leftover scraps. The leather pulls are great and her shipping was prompt. I did check when she was mailing just to be sure.
Three great bags. I always get stopped by seeing Noodlehead posts. She is a trouble maker. You got a Yooper Bar, love them. I got them a few times when I ordered Pasty’s from PastyCentral, a bunch of older then me ladies making pastys and shipping them out.
She is a troublemaker isn’t she! A Yooper bar was delicious…. I tried to look up PastyCentral and my browser warned me, but I knew it must be a delicacy. Gotta remember that for my UP friend!
What a lovely thing to step in and be a swap angel for someone. I’m sorry you haven’t hear from her. The bags and goodies all look lovely and like wonderful, thoughtful gifts.
I was happy to help, and a bit disappointed but that is how swaps roll. It was a lot of fun and since we don’t do Christmas gifts (we get what we want during the year), this was fun for me.
Such cute bags and gifts. Perhaps the thank you went astray. I had a surprising visit from a sheriff awhile back, advising me that some of my outgoing mail had been found during part of a criminal investigation…apparently it had been stolen from our mailbox, waiting for our Postal Carrier to pick it up. I’ll never know which of the letters I wrote arrived, and which were stolen.
That is a good point. It was tracked as having gone to the address, but maybe something else strange happened. One of the coordinators was going to get in touch, but I haven’t heard from her either so I think this person is MIA. Hope nothing is wrong with her.
Hi Kathleen! Oh, yes. Wide-teeth zippers sound like QuiltCon for sure. I love your bags/pouches. They turned out just great. I’m surprised that you didn’t hear from the Wisconsin person – she’s giving the state a bad name. Hmm, I’m wondering about the Duck tape now myself. ~smile~ Roseanne
I know, I am making a little shopping list….. I have some in black but don’t often use that color, so I want some beige, or white or silver! Its weird, and maybe something awful is going on.
Even if I was not in a good mood, receiving that lovely bag with dark chocolate in it would definitely cheer me up. Talented you! Lucky recipients!!! Hope you hear from her soon.
That just made my day. Really, it was fun and I just hope she is ok!
So nice bags. Perfect to use some old jeans there too. Thanks for the link to your Pinterest board. More great bags there.
You are so right about the jeans! Glad you like the board. I think there are a few more to add there too!
Hi Kathleen, those are really cute bags. It sounds like they can be pretty addictive to make!
They are very addictive. I have at least two more cut out and others planned.
Those are great bags!! Love the little leather pulls! and what a perfect size
They are perfect and easy too!
Lovely bags and goodies both given and received.
Thank you!
Your bags are great and I love the bag and goodies you received. Where do you get your labels? They are so nice. Thank you for linking u to Put your foot down.
