Barn Quilt BOM – Month 6

The last month of piecing is upon us! I love the flags of pieces on my door at the cottage in Maine. The one in the center was equally as long on the other side. The frightening thing is that these were not all the pieces. This is a month that requires a few shifts of sewing! I suggest a time for cutting, a time for adding the triangles, a time for piecing the stars, and a time for putting it all together.

I marked my colors on the stars so as not to get them mixed up on both pages. It worked as I had little trouble figuring things out because of this.

Now watch your reversals on the angles for the points. The mistake I made, was early and on a solid piece which could be flipped and the triangle reattached. That was a good thing, as I didn’t have the extra fabric with me when I made that mistake. The rest of the pieces were clear sailing!

I loved the stars and played with a few different settings. In the end, I will use the stars across the top and bottom of the quilt and a border on the sides. It will be plenty big enough for a queen size quilt.

Working together is what makes this fun, so remember to check out the other quilters who are blogging, including our fab designer, Sherry!

Hi Kathleen! Wow, it seems like this sew-along has gone by quickly. It seems like it was just a few weeks ago that you announced this and here we are to almost having a quilt top. I love these star blocks. Lovely as the top and bottom of the quilt. ~smile~ Roseanne

They are fun little blocks but many pieces….. I am pleased at the way it is turning out AND I have enough left to make something fun with it….maybe a table topper in my dining room that has teal curtains!

I love seeing all your chain pieced parts in a row, like a wonderful bunting! Love your background fabric.

Bunting from chain piecing is one of my favorites. Thanks, I love that fabric too – like the seeds from maples? or is it another tree.
