Welcome to Block 4 of the Awesome Ocean Sew Along (AOSAL in my notations). Isn’t Angelica just the angel of a fish? I love her bubbles and I made mine blue, which made me very happy. This has been one busy blogging week for me; silence will follow for a few days, but I will be back soon – you can check out upcoming content at the bottom of the blog.

Hint 1: Fabric Considerations for this block:
Light background – Change the white to another color (G & H)
Bubbles – Change the white to blue or another color for I
Hint 2: Time to Prep/Make Block:
Prep time is about 1/2 – 3/4 hour of cutting and about 1 to 1 1/2 hours of
sewing. I take my time with these blocks.

Hint 3: Check the orientation of the easy pieces!
You can see where I removed stitches. I sometimes sew without thinking it makes a difference in a simple piece; it does.

Hint 4: Finger Pressing
I finger press the seams open, before I move to the iron. This makes that process faster. Sometimes I even use an unusual tool, a screwdriver!

Hint 5: Keep the pieces in order
You may not have this problem if you are using white, but it can get confusing if you aren’t, so I make sure it looks right before I sew.

Here’s what you need to play along:
1. Get the pattern from my amazon affiliate link* or
from the designer directly or in your local store.
2. The links are updated below for any completed blocks.

What I made Monday
She is an angel. I can see where I could easily get me pieces out of order!
I learned to really take my time and pay attention to the directions. It isn’t hard but it is easy to go the wrong way….
Already on block 4? Great job moving forward! The bubbles make it super cute!!!
I know, it does go fast this way….and I am glad not to be doing one a week; it is just the right pace!
Very cute fish, such tiny pieces!
Its really not so bad, they are all squares/rectangles!
Oh, my goodness. Could you have chosen any more perfect batiks for the project? Can’t wait to see more! Thanks for linking up to What I Made Monday.
They are working out quite well! Thanks for the linky party, always fun to link up.
I went in the hashtag pool for the Awesome Ocean quilt when I saw your post on IG, adn wow! This will be epic! Even more so in Island Batiks. 🙂
I am loving doing this and even more thinking about the sweet baby that it will be for! Its been a fun SAL and I don’t have to write the pattern!
