Sweet Tweets Spring/Summer 2018 Island Batik Collection
It has been a good week as there were many quilting finishes in my studio. I started and finished the top of a quilt and made its back! That is huge. It is going to be quilted by Linda, on her long arm, and its final reveal will been on September 3. Its a big day, as that is when I blog about the quilting and quilt for the Island Batik Ambassador Challenge about the Sweet Tweets fabric line, available this summer (the fabrics for this quilt were given to me by Island Batik). At the bottom of the post is a list of the upcoming blog hops – the Great Outdoors – and YES there will be giveaways! Its really a great big party on the internet so, get ready. I am thinking I will have two giveaways, one next week to celebrate the start of the hop and one on the day I blog (September 3). Many of the ambassadors will have their own as well as Island Batik having a large prize. I’ll post links at the bottom of the page for the hop! The first picture is a little preview of a rep sample I made earlier in the year. This picture is one of the whole collection waiting to be cut into for the quilt.
I also made the back for my playtime plus quilt. You can read more about it here. It is going to Linda, too, to be quilted.
This next project – looking forward is my OMG – to finish this little project. It is a small Halloween piece – and then it will be ready for Halloween! I won it in a giveaway last year. I have a hand project for September, so I wanted an easy one for August so I could have 2 months to work on the hand piecing.
Next week, there will be a blog on WordPress and why I moved to it. There will be some affiliate links to the person who moved my blog and the place that I hosts it. Both, I can highly recommend.
Hope you enjoy your Saturday…and remember to watch for the giveaways and blog hop!

I think it will be fun – and quick!
Kathleen, so much going on here! The Sweet Tweets are all bird related fabrics? I really love your colorful playtime plus quilt. I’m looking forward to seeing your quilted quilts coming up.
The Sweet Tweets are a mix, some blenders, geometric, flowers, raindrops!, dragonflies and birds. It is a great collection….and all this wonderful fabric has me keeping very busy!
Looking forward to seeing your Halloween item. See you on the other side of OMG!
Thanks, Dawn. It is a little thing, but one less project hanging around – or it may actually be hanging – rather than lying around!
You had a very productive week! I look forward to seeing your quilt in early September.
Thanks, Yvonne. Its a simple one, but really shows off each fabric – and it reflects something unexpected – memories from our house of 22 years.
I’m pleased with the way things are moving, as well as, with the way the quilt turned out. You really can see all the fabrics.
The Sweet Tweets batiks are adorable.
I wish I were responsible. The hunks I have for a giveaway are substantial – be sure to come back!
They are really sweet – and the color combinations are so much fun!
I did a little squeal when I saw the plus playtime all finished! I cannot wait to see it quilted! Mark nor can I wait but I will have to to see your project! That is a lovely line.
OK talk to text can be a PITA at times. I meant “nor can I wait but I will have to, to to see your Island Batik project.
It looks like you are getting a lot done so we will be seeing a lot of finishes soon. The august goal looks like a lot of fun.
It has been a productive few months; which is nice. Last year I quit a part time job at a quilt store – bittersweet. Loved being there, but we were moving and it was time to change things up. Good news is I got more sewing time! Thanks for stopping by.
Love it!
Thank you.
Love the quilt and the colors I follow via Bloglovin
I enjoyed the block and coming up with the design. It is an easy quilt but great for featuring fabrics!
I’ve been intending to make a plus quilt. Yours is really cute. I follow you on bloglovin’
I don’t know if it is still on Sandra’s site, but it is a fun and easy one. Good luck in the giveaway.
